WALNUT, Calif. -- Continuing a year-long succession of accolades for excellence for the nation's largest privately held home builder, Shea Homes' Trilogy active-adult communities ranked highest in customer satisfaction among the largest active-adult community home builders nationwide

in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 New-Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study(SM).

In addition, the J.D. Power and Associates study ranked Shea Homes highest in customer satisfaction with home builders in San Diego, CA (for the second consecutive year) and Denver/Colorado Springs, CO; number two in customer satisfaction with home buyers in San Francisco Bay Area and Phoenix (in a three way tie); and number-three in customer satisfaction with home builders in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles/Ventura counties. In total, Shea Homes was ranked in the top three in six of the eight markets in which the company builds.

Bert Selva, president and CEO of Shea Homes stated, "J.D. Power and Associates is the most respected company in the field of rating customer satisfaction. Being highly ranked in their studies is a goal of every company that markets products to consumers. Achieving this goal reflects our unwavering commitment to uphold the highest standards of quality and integrity. We work diligently to provide our customers with a rewarding home-buying experience."

Shea Homes currently builds homes throughout California, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Washington and North and South Carolina. The J.D. Power study was based on responses from 50,399 buyers of newly constructed homes in 34 of the largest U.S. markets, who were surveyed between March-July 2007 by J.D. Power and Associates, a global marketing information firm that represents the voice of the customer.

"Our success as a company is determined by our ability to satisfy our customers. The results of this study demonstrate that we continue to be an industry leader in customer satisfaction across the country. The J.D. Power and Associates award is a result of teamwork and dedication from our employees and our TradePartners[R]," Selva concluded.

Among Shea Homes' values is not only a commitment to customer satisfaction but a commitment to communities at large. A prime example is the company's current literacy awareness campaign, which encourages parents to Read With Your Child 15 Minutes a Day. Studies have shown that spending just a few minutes a day reading to preschool-age children can make a tremendous difference in their future success. Reading to your child can help them enjoy learning, resulting in better performance in school. It can increase their chances of graduating from high school and going on to college, and it can even help them avoid crime and drugs.

Shea Homes, honored as 2007 Builder of the Year by Professional Builder magazine, is an independent member of the Shea family of companies, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2006. Over the past century and a quarter, members of the Shea family and their companies have accomplished many extraordinary milestones, including completing work on the foundation of the landmark Golden Gate Bridge, working on San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART) and serving as a managing partner for the construction of the Hoover Dam.
