Way To Go, Home Depot!
Back in March, thinking we needed to replace a ceiling fan, my wife and I went to Home Depot and bought one. Since it wasn't ceiling fan season yet, we, okay I, procrastinated in putting it up.
Back in March, thinking we needed to replace a ceiling fan, my wife and I went to Home Depot and bought one. Since it wasn't ceiling fan season yet, we, okay I, procrastinated in putting it up. When I got around to doing it last weekend, I quickly determined that the original ceiling fan wasn't broken, the chain had been wrapped around the motor's shaft and it all it took to get it working again was to unwrap the chain.(I'm a knowledge worker, Jim. Not a mechanic!:-) Since this was my youngest son's room, I wasn't suprised to discover the reason that the chain was wrapped around the shaft was because his older brother had kicked a soccer ball and hit the chain. When the switch didn't work, everyone assumed the fan was broken.
Yesterday we took the ceiling fan back to Home Depot. Even though we had passed the 90-day mark, we were in and out with a credit on my credit card within four minutes. My wife and I were suitably impressed.
For the past several years, I had been leaning more toward Lowe's than Home Depot, primarily because of Home Depot's poor customer service during the Nardelli years. But under new management, I've noticed more staff standing near endcaps anxious to help customers. That's what I like to see and in the future, I'll give HD an equal shot.

Glenn
