Feb. 3--Leaders of American Airlines Inc.'s pilots' union offered rare praise to the carrier's management Monday, following a special meeting with employees last week.

In e-mail messages to pilots through the Allied Pilots Association's internal Internet site, union officials said the meeting was helpful and a good step toward keeping employees involved in American's ongoing recovery.
