Eltrax is enabling NetGen's Microsoft applications to create a database to collect information from students seeking continuing education credits who purchase the courses, provide an audio version for various classes that can be heard online and an e-commerce function for students to purchase the courses over the Internet through NetGen's Web site, www.netgenusc.com.
NetGen, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of South Carolina's Development Foundation, announced in February that its first Internet-based training course would be released May 1. Through the partnership with USC, NetGen will sell the courses to professionals seeking continuing education credits or re-certifications. USC professors will provide content for the courses, and the university will award certificates of completion.
"Eltrax's consultants will help NetGen to not only set up its back office systems to handle e-commerce transactions when people sign up for classes, but also with the ability to collect student's information in a database for billing and future reference," said Todd Cochran, vice president of application services for Eltrax. "Eltrax will implement an application services solution using the company's new Web-based, IT infrastructure to make it easy for customers to purchase courses, participate in the sessions and register for future courses online."
"Having the functionality to offer the continuing education courses over the Internet will significantly reduce time-off-the-job and travel-related costs to these individuals and their employers. With the solution provided by Eltrax in setting up the back-office, e-commerce solution, we now have the means to track and certify the completion of these courses and keep accurate records of past and current attendees," said Tom Winterstein, president and chief executive officer of NetGen.
