MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1996--Quantum Corp. (NMS: QNTM) today announced that Tex Schenkkan has been named vice president of strategic planning and business development.
Schenkkan will report to Michael Brown, Quantum's chief executive officer.
Schenkkan, 40, will help define Quantum's corporate strategies in support of long-term growth and evaluate potential business opportunities to ensure the company's future competitiveness in the storage industry.
Schenkkan joins Quantum from Hewlett-Packard (HP) where he spent 12 years in a variety of key marketing and business development positions. Most recently, he was a marketing manager with the storage systems division. There he was responsible for all aspects of worldwide marketing, for disk array products including the launch of HP's AutoRAID array technology.
Prior to that, Schenkkan was manager of business development for HP where he managed investigations, financial analyses, and negotiations for equity investments, acquisitions, and strategic relationships, including relationships with key Japanese partners.

Schenkkan holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in History from Yale University.
