Raytheon Names Bade Vice President of StrategicPlanning and Business Development.

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1999--

Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTNA;RTNB) announced that Chris Bade has been appointed vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development. He will lead the strategy development and strategic planning for the company, including the identification

of opportunities for key strategic alliances and the application of business technology and processes that can improve Raytheon's competitive strength. He will report to Franklyn Caine, Raytheon senior vice president and chief financial officer.

"With the changing landscape of our markets, we are redoubling our strategic planning efforts and are pleased to have an experienced professional such as Chris join our team," said Caine. "In addition to working with the leadership of the company to develop our strategic plans, Chris will assess opportunities for strategic alliances, domestically and internationally. This is especially important currently in Europe, where defense markets are in a period of rapid change and consolidation."

Bade joins Raytheon from Textron Inc., where he led corporate governance re-engineering. Prior to that he was part of the team that led strategy development and business development across the company. Bade also was a managing consultant at A.T. Kearney and a senior consultant at Arthur D. Little. A former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, Bade holds degrees from Boston College and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
