Veteran Banker John S. Poelker Establishes Consultancy.

ATLANTA -- John S. Poelker, a long-time executive with banking and consulting firms in Atlanta and the Midwest, has announced the formation of The Poelker Consultancy, Inc., through which he provides financial and management consulting services to the financial services industry. The firm focuses

on high-level strategic consulting advice to executives and boards. Poelker said, "The financial services industry today operates in an increasingly complex competitive and regulatory environment. My experience with the wide range of companies that I have served as both an executive and consultant provides me with first-hand knowledge of the approaches necessary to address these issues."

Reflecting his financial management background, the focus of the consulting practice is on assignments such as the development of long-range financial targets, capital planning and structuring, risk management, financial reporting and analysis, profitability improvement, and strategic planning. In addition, the firm provides advice and counsel regarding mergers and acquisitions and shareholder and investor relations.

To supplement the firm's offerings, Poelker has established working relationships with a number of other consulting firms that provide specialized expertise in other areas of operations and management.

Poelker retired from his position as Chief Financial Officer of Old National Bancorporation of Evansville, Indiana in 2005. In a career which spanned 40 years of involvement in the financial services industry he served in executive management positions with Mercantile Bancorporation in St. Louis, Citizens & Southern Corporation in Atlanta, Bank of American Corporation in San Francisco, Fleet Financial Group in Atlanta, and American General Corporation in Evansville.

He began his career with KPMG in St. Louis, managed his own consulting firm in Atlanta during the late 1980's and early 1990's and is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Poelker has held leadership positions in the Bank Administration Institute and The Financial Services Roundtable, serving most recently as Chairman of the Chief Financial Officers Council of the Roundtable.
