How Should I Prepare for Business Travel Overseas?

* From  Date: Friday, March 7 2008

If you plan to travel to a foreign country on business, make sure you obtain the proper documentation, including an up-to-date passport and any necessary work visas. Each of these documents can take

a month or longer to obtain, so if you don't have them, make sure you apply well before your departure date. Keep in mind that some countries will refuse entry if you do not have enough time remaining on your current passport before it expires. Check this beforehand with the appropriate consulate or embassy.

Also, inquire about any vaccinations and medications you might need, and be aware that some medications may cause nausea. If you're taking a medication for the first time, do so at least 24 hours before you leave so you will know how your body reacts. It also helps to gain familiarity with the local language and to use street smarts when walking around in unfamiliar territory.
