Eurotunnel Publishes 1999 Fares On the Internet WithGreat Apex Offers.

LONDON/PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1998--Eurotunnel will publish its 1999 fares on the Internet later today. All fares are available through Eurotunnel's Call Centre and travel agents. Continental prices are all quoted in Euros for the first time, alongside local currency conversions.

Fares for the first quarter of the year are below the current fares in all cases. The new fares include summer Apex offers for July and August which offer major savings on the peak prices for people booking and paying before March 31, 1999. People booking early can benefit from an Apex fare of just (pound)159 for a summer economy return for anyone travelling before June 30, 1999 and only (pound)169 for travel between July 1 and December 31, 1999.

Summer peak fares are up by around 25%. For example a fare of (pound)279 for the peak period of July / August, and at the peak time of the day, with a fully flexible open return ticket, compared to (pound)220 in the summer of 1998.

Eurotunnel will continue to offer special fares, with certain travel restrictions, for specific promotions.

Overall cross-Channel prices have been reducing in the last few years. The abolition of Duty Free ends the distortion of the market and will mean that transport operators will need to charge a price for transport which reflects the costs of provision and also the competitiveness of the market and the market growth of recent years. Eurotunnel has previously indicated that increases could be around 20-30%.

Yellow Band is for travel from UK to France between 6:01 A.M. and 10:00 P.M., between April 1 and May 27 and between May 30 and July 8 from Sundays to Saturdays and between July 9 and August 31, 1999 from Sundays to Thursdays.

Red Band is for travel from UK to France between 6:01 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. between May 28 and 29 and between July 9 and August 31, 1999 on Fridays and Saturdays.
