WOOD DALE, Ill. -- As the current wave of upper level management prepares for retirement, a new generation is waiting to take their places in corner offices across the corporate world. Preparing these executives for the responsibilities of tomorrow is a challenge which will take on increased urgency

in the near future.

A new market survey, co-produced by RHR International and The Institute of Executive Development, examines the process by which organizations identify and develop individuals who show promise for future senior leadership roles. As well as development programs available to all employees, many organizations have additional activities available to those designated as "high potential." This survey seeks to understand how organizations identify such persons, the methods used to develop them, and the effect that such activities have on the organization. Questions in the survey span the following areas related to high potential selection and development: a) Context, b) Future Leader Development Methods and c) Process Evaluation.

Survey respondents will include a cross section from The Institute of Executive Development membership representing a variety of industries and organization sizes. Input from additional sources is welcome. Any organization which engages in regular development exercises for high potential executives is invited to participate by visiting the survey Web site at http://www.execsight.com/Benchmarks/?id=200601.

Respondents will automatically receive the results after a critical mass of respondents have taken the survey. All responses are kept confidential and results shown are aggregated across all respondents.

"As recognized experts in the fields of succession planning and high potential development, RHR International is pleased to participate in this study," said Jeff Durocher, Vice President of Marketing Development for RHR International. "We eagerly anticipate the results of this survey to validate the methodologies we employ in these areas."

"This survey will provide a benchmark regarding the current high potential development practices of organizations," remarked Scott Saslow, Executive Director of The Institute of Executive Development. "The results will also enhance marketplace understanding of why certain Human Resource programs are more effective than others."
