Bread & Roses Community Fund to Celebrate 30(th) Anniversary

PHILADELPHIA -- Today, Bread & Roses Community Fund will honor 30 social justice heroes at the 30 for 30 Tribute to Change. The 30 for 30 Tribute to Change is being held at the University of the Arts Hamilton Hall from

5:30-8:00 pm.

The 30 for 30 Tribute to Change will recognize 30 individuals who have broken new ground in building paths to social justice in the Philadelphia region. The evening will also commemorate Bread & Roses Community Fund's 30 year legacy of supporting progressive, grassroots organizations.

According to Casey Cook, Bread & Roses Executive Director, it was essential for Bread & Roses to honor these 30 individuals who usually fly under the radar.

"We chose to honor 30 social justice heroes both to celebrate our 30th anniversary and because the work of social change is not accomplished by just one or two people," she said.

30 for 30 Tribute to Change honorees include Sister Mary Scullion of Project HOME, Marciene Mattleman of After School Activities Partnership, John Bell of Philadelphia FIGHT and Amadee Braxton of Iraq Veterans Against the War.

Columbia University Professor Manning Marable will be the special guest speaker. Marable is one of the nation's leading intellectuals who speaks, writes and acts to address issues of race, class and gender.
