Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

WALPOLE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 2003

Extending its leadership in the network and security event management market, Network Intelligence today announced a third appliance offering, the Network Intelligence Engine(TM) EX series. This new

appliance is a key addition to the company's portfolio, as it rounds out the appliance product line for the SMB (EX Series), enterprise (HA Series) and global deployments (LS Series).

Network Intelligence offers the only comprehensive suite of appliance solutions that collect event log data from security and network devices to create a complete picture of network usage, verify security policy compliance, generate alerts for possible security breaches, and analyze and report on network performance. Effectively managing network and security events is considered a best-practice security policy, and for many companies it is a federally mandated requirement.

Raising the Bar on Value

Appliances deliver the highest performance event log capture and analysis available, offer the most robust and granular correlation, are cost-effective, reduce time-to-deployment, and have fewer application conflicts than software-only solutions.

"The demands for an appliance solution are coming from companies of all sizes," says Matt Stevens, VP for Sales and Marketing at Network Intelligence. "The most critical component of security event management is the capture of all event logs as they are produced. With our line of appliances, we provide a low-cost, easy to deploy means to capture and manage 100% of an organization's logs, regardless of the size of that organization."

Chuck Farrell, President of Acceleron Solutions, one of Network Intelligence's channel partners, commented "From the smallest company to the largest Fortune 50, the response we receive about the Network Intelligence Engine is amazingly consistent: meaningfully enhanced security protection; fast and easy to install; intuitively easy to use; an architecture that is robust and highly scalable; and a large suite of information-rich reports for regulatory compliance obligations and operations improvements. The bottom line is the Network Intelligence Engine delivers more than security, it delivers a significant return on investment as well."

An Appliance For Everyone

Selecting the correct appliance is a function of understanding how many logged security and network events occur on an organization's network. Even a relatively small network may generate thousands of event logs per second. To calculate how many logged events occur on your network, go to: www.network-intelligence.com/eps_calculator. Appliance descriptions are as follows:

Network Intelligence Engine EX series for the SMB offers sustained data collection rates from 500 to 1,000 events per second from up to 32 source devices. The NIE-500-EX and the NIE-1000-EX are upgradeable to the HA series appliances.

Network Intelligence Engine HA series for the enterprise offers sustained data collection rates from 2,000 to 6,000 events per second from up to 1,024 source devices. The HA series allows multiple users to tap into real-time and historical analysis. This line is upgradeable to the LS series.

Network Intelligence Engine LS series is the top-of-the-line appliance for large enterprises and service providers. The LS series features the LogSmart distributed database that can collect and manage up to 30,000 sustained events per second. With multiple LS deployments, customers can easily manage 100,000s events per second from 1000s of sources devices.
