Melville-based Comtech Telecommunications Corp. said Wednesday it received a $3.4 million telecommunications systems equipment contract from an unnamed U.S. defense contractor.

The order was through Comtech's New York-based subsidiary, Comtech PST.
On Dec. 6, Comtech posted a 36 percent jump in its fiscal first-quarter profit, driven by increased sales of microwave and mobile data equipment. Net income for period ending Oct. 31 increased to $14.7 million from $10.8 million the year-ago period.
Comtech (Nasdaq: CMTL) shares opened Wednesday at $51.59.
