ATG files Chapter 11: company says its several thousand local business customers won't be...

Telecommunications provider Advanced TelCom Group, Inc. has filed for Chapter II bankruptcy, but the company insists that service will not be hampered as it attempts to pay off its debts.

The company, based in Santa Rosa, Calif., serves several thousand business customers in Bellingham with telephone and Internet services.

Company officials said they will close offices in New York, Connecticut, Virginia and Maryland. Service to the other areas will remain the same as before, said Gary Cuccio, executive chairman of ATG.
