Unicom Dividend Plan After 1st Half Spur

CHINA, Sep 09, 2002 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- China's No 2 wireless carrier China Unicom said yesterday it would start paying dividends at year end after posting a better-than-expected 2.7 per cent growth in first-half net profit.

Unicom's dividend announcement came after its larger rival China Mobile declared last month its first ever final dividend this year.

This indicated both companies had entered a stage of steady growth after rapid development in the past.
