As we report in this issue of Israel Diamonds, 2003 proved to be another record year for the Israeli diamond sector. Net exports of polished diamonds stood at $5.33 billion, 5.9 percent more than the $5.23 billion worth that were exported in 2002. Exports of rough diamond rose by 37.8 percent during 2003, with $2.23 billion worth of sales reported, compared to $1.62 billion in 2002. What this means is that the total value of exports of the Israeli diamond sector rose by 10.4 percent in 2003 to stand at $7.56 billion.
