Nortel Posts 12 Percent Rise in Fourth-Quarter Earnings.

Jan. 30--Worldwide demand for wireless and voice-over-Internet products helped boost Nortel Networks Corp.'s fourth-quarter earnings, the company said Thursday.

The Canadian firm with U.S. headquarters in Richardson reported its second straight quarterly profit with revenue climbing 12 percent to $2.83 billion from $2.53 billion a year ago.

Nortel, whose equipment is used to build phone, wireless and Internet networks, reported a net income of $499 million, or 11
