In January 2006 Telent was launched as an independent technology services business following the Ericsson acquisition of the Marconi brand and product businesses. Telent has a large field-based engineering community and is implementing a field force mobility solution. Over the coming months, we will

be publishing an insider's view of the Field Force Enablement project. Here, Mark Turner looks at how the company got to this new beginning

It is one of the newest names in technology services, yet paradoxically has one of the oldest histories. Think Marconi and you think hi-tech, since the eponymous wireless pioneer was broadcasting across the Atlantic. From this heritage, and its dynamic approach, Telent has built up a wealth of experience and expertise across its entire technology services portfolio.

Telent delivers communication and network services to telecom operators, enterprises, equipment vendors and public sector organisations in the UK, Ireland and Germany. This month marks a key milestone for Telent as it reports its first full-year's trading.
