NIGERIA: Construction contract award for planned $210,000,000 cement plant, FL SMIDTH A/S...

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local UNITED CEMENT COMPANY OF NIGERIA recently awarded a cement plant construction contract to Denmark-based FL SMIDTH A/S. According to the terms of the award, FL SMIDTH will be responsible for supplying all the machinery and auxiliary equipment. In so doing, several of the company's subsidiaries and divisions are expected to participate as subcontractors.

Construction plans call for building a plant with an installed production capacity of 6,250 tons of cement clinker per day. The new facility, to be sited near the port of Calaba
