TAIWAN: Construction contract award for planned $65,000,000 coke oven batteries, UHDE GMBH...

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local CHINA STEEL CORP. (CSC) recently awarded a construction contract for 2 new coke oven batteries, to be sited in Taichung, some 130 kms southwest of the capital Taipei, to Germany-based UHDE GMBH. According to the terms of the award, UHDE will be responsible for the engineering, supply of special equipment items and supervision of the erection and commissioning activities.

Each of the 2 coke oven batteries will comprise 42 ovens with a chamber height of 7.3 meters and will produce approximately 1,700 tonnes per day of coke from arou
