VENEZUELA: Joint venture construction contract award for planned $2,000,000,000 railroads,...

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Subsequent to the signing of an economic, industrial and infrastructure cooperation program between the governments of Venezuela and Italy in February 2001, an Italian joint venture was recently awarded a construction contract to build 2 new railroads in the country. The partners in the planned undertaking include ASTALDI, GHELLA and IMPREGILO.

According to the terms of the award, the partnership will be responsible for the provision of engineering, civil works as well as the construction of stations, workshops and the installation of tracks
