KUWAIT: Construction contract award for planned $37,000,000 refinery upgrade project, HEAVY...

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local KUWAIT NATIONAL PETROLEUM CO. (KNPC) recently awarded a refinery upgrade contract to Kuwait's HEAVY ENGINEERING INDUSTRY & SHIPBUILDING CO. (HEISCO). According to the terms of the award, the company will be responsible for refurbishing the 200,000 barrel per day Shuaiba plant.

In so doing, HEISCO will revamp the refinery's boilers and furnaces. The upgrade project is intended to enable developing a safe and clean environment.
