Unisys Builds on Strong Outsourcing Foundation with Commonwealth of Pa.
With this contract, Unisys expands its already established relationship with the Department of Public Welfare and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Initiated in 1999, Unisys provides outsourcing of operations and technical support for many of the Commonwealth's mainframe computer systems that support mission-critical state government services.
This initiative, known as the Data PowerHouse, is generating substantial savings that enable the Commonwealth to address other strategic technology needs. Under the $619 million, seven-year agreement, Unisys has worked with the Commonwealth to consolidate and outsource 21 formerly separate state agency data centers, most within eight miles of the state Capitol.
Additionally Unisys announced in the fourth quarter of 2001 that it will provide an estimated $41 million technology and services upgrade to the Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES).
Strengthening the computing power and providing state-of-the-art storage systems will improve the business continuity preparedness of PACSES which supports the business operations of the 67 Pennsylvania county domestic relations sections in the collection and distribution of child support.
Recently praised for its work on the Data PowerHouse project, Unisys and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania were recognized with the Outsourcing Journal's Annual Editor's Choice Award in the Most Strategic category.
Citing its successful partnership with the Commonwealth, Outsourcing Journal acknowledged Unisys for consistently meeting the state's strategic goals and going far beyond what was initially anticipated.
