Orbit International Corp. (NASDAQ:ORBT), a military defense electronics supplier, today announced that it had received a firm fixed price indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) multi year contract from the
The IDIQ contract provides pricing to meet anticipated requirements of up to 100 units annually for a period of five years. The initial contract award under this IDIQ is for $300,000 with deliveries expected in the second and third quarters of 2004. The Company has previously delivered approximately 235 DEDDT's under various contracts with U.S. Government agencies. If the current IDIQ contract is fully exercised, this award could exceed $5,000,000 over the next five years for the Company.
The DEDDT provides the artillery batallions with an interactive information display that is used in conjunction with the Modular Azimuth Positioning System (MAPS) and the Global Positioning System (GPS) used on the Firefinder Radar Display.
Dennis Sunshine, President and CEO of Orbit, commented, "We are pleased to be recognized as a valued military supplier to the U.S. Army and Marine Corps and to continue to support this military positioning display requirement by providing a reliable, cost competitive single board computer solution with a backlit electro-luminescent display that supports the Army TPQ-36/37 and Marine Corps TPS-59 requirements. The TPQ-36/37 and TPS-59 Firefinder programs are multi-usage and provides the armed forces with accurate positioning information that is intended to meet both U.S. and foreign military requirements."
Mr. Sunshine added, "This multi-year agreement provides both customers with firm fixed prices for DEDDT requirements for a period of five years and also includes service and retrofit pricing for units currently supporting program requirements. If this IDIQ contract is fully exercised, it would be a very significant business opportunity for Orbit."
