Savi Technology Leverages DoD Infrastructure and Technology to Extend
Real-Time Solutions for Smart and Secure Tradelanes in Europe, Asia
and U.S.
Savi Technology announced
This is Savi's third multi-year RFID procurement contract with DoD since 1994, for a combined total contract value of US$280 million. During this time, Savi has helped to build and operate and continues to extend the DoD's Total Asset Visibility (TAV) network, already the world's largest active RFID logistics tracking system, which monitors and manages cargo containers transporting military supplies through more than 40 countries, including in Europe.
Savi is leveraging the technology and infrastructure of the TAV network to help build Smart and Secure Tradelanes, an industry-driven initiative involving the world's largest port operators, including P&O Ports, to improve the security and efficiency of U.S.-bound ocean cargo container shipments, from such ports of origin as Rotterdam, Antwerp and Felixstowe. Since launched last summer, SST has grown to over 35 partners and made hundreds of shipments of smart and secure containers.
