What's the most common trap for new franchisors?

Without a doubt, the number one trap for new franchisors is insisting that their entrepreneurial skills will automatically translate into franchise success. That notion is mostly unfounded and untrue.

Franchising defeats most of those who try it, because franchising is a unique industry that requires specific skills to plan for and build the right kind of organization.

I spend three months with new franchisors in serious discussion, and the balance of a year in on-going counseling.

No quality franchise organization was built in a day, and many entrepreneurs have paid a stiff price for not accepting that fact.
