Here's a free way you can market your home-based business - by answering questions! There are at least two online answer services where you can make your expertise more visible. They are Yahoo Answers and Amazon Askville.
In both cases, sign-up is free. You can use your existing Yahoo or Amazon accounts, but you will need to take a few minutes and create a profile for the service. In both cases, people will pose questions in various subject areas and various users will answer the question. In both cases, you can place a link directly in your answer if the link is relevant to the subject area. Here is an example of an Askville answer that has a few relevant links in it. (This is a great way to get a free link to your website by the way).
Yahoo has been around longer and answers seem to get the better indexing in Google. In some cases, Yahoo Answers pages will pop up on the first page for search terms, so obviously Google considers these pages relevant. Also Yahoo Answers offers an advanced search feature so you can easily narrow down questions you may be interested in answering. Amazon Askville is still in that 'beta' stage and only offers a simple search.
In both cases, you can rate other people's answers. The flip side of that of course is that people can rate your answers, so make sure your answers are relevant and of quality. Each also has a way to flag the answer as spam, so do even go there.
This is a great way to show off your expertise in a subject matter and at the same time, soft market your home based business.
I heard positive comments about Yahoo Answers, so I decided to give it a try. I agree, this is not only an excellent medium to help others about a particular topic, but it also helps build traffic and links. This is specially true when one of your answers is voted "best". Yahoo Search considers that the reference is coming from a quality, resourceful site and therefore increases its ranking. http://www.legitimate-home-based-businesses.net ...
