CARY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2000

Marianna Suciu, president of the newly formed SAS Americas division, today appointed Jay Finnigan senior director of operations.

SAS Institute, the market leader in e-intelligence and data warehousing, recently realigned its global operations by consolidating North American and Latin American operations. Finnigan's appointment will aid the company as it moves to strengthen its market-leading position in these regions.

"Jay brings a wealth of experience from managing the operations of several international companies and has helped take companies through significant organizational change," said Suciu. "His insight will be a valuable addition to our SAS Americas management team."

Prior to joining SAS, Finnigan held the position of vice president of customer services at Bell & Howell's Mail & Messaging Technologies, a firm based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., that designs and manufactures software and electromechanical equipment used in the mail industry. In this role, he managed an organization of more than 1,200 employees throughout North and South America and had direct financial responsibility of $180 million. Finnigan's efforts helped Bell & Howell increase its services revenue by 42 percent while boosting operating profit by 85 percent in a three-year period.

Finnigan began his career at Concurrent Computer Corp. in Oceanport, N.J. He held various management positions there during his 23-year tenure, serving as vice president of worldwide customer service and director of product planning and support. Finnigan also held executive positions with ADP and Securicor Telesciences prior to his work with Bell & Howell.
