NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2000

Citing her "entrepreneurial, artistic and civic-minded" talents, Stonehill College recently awarded Yvonne Balsamo, of Dover, MA, an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree.

is Corporate Designer/Decorator for TAC Worldwide Companies, one of the world's largest providers of technical, information technology, engineering and office support staffing. She and her husband, Salvatore A. Balsamo, who founded TAC in 1969, have built the Newton-based company into a billion-dollar member of the Forbes 500. Mrs. Balsamo has been credited as a principle architect of TAC's widely recognized employee-centered, family-oriented corporate culture.

In addition to her creative and entrepreneurial work, Mrs. Balsamo has been a philanthropist on behalf of Catholic Charities and the Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as other causes. Mrs. Balsamo was instrumental in founding the Balsamo Memorial Foundation, which serves the needs of the elderly and children. She and her husband were recently honored by the Renaissance Lodge (OSIA) as recipients of the Legionnaire Award.

In addressing Stonehill's graduating class, Mrs. Balsamo spoke on the importance of parenting. "Being a parent is a responsibility to cherish. It is my hope that you will be the generation to bring family values back to America, if not as a parent, perhaps as a role model for nieces and nephews."

Yvonne Balsamo was born and grew up in the city of Boston. She resides in Dover, Massachusetts with her husband. Her family -- Tony Balsamo, Mary Balsamo, Linda Wirta, Bill Wirta, Vicki Balsamo, and her five grandchildren -- resides in Canton, Massachusetts.
