If Ellie Ramos' entrepreneurial
success proves one thing, it's that even in today's technology age good old-fashioned social networking gets the job done.Ramos, 42, is chief executive officer and founder of National City-based Technical Logistics Corp., a woman-owned minority technology services business with major clients in defense, military and government. She credits her firm's phenomenal growth - an 847 percent revenue growth between 2005 and 2007 - in large part to her kill in building up contacts, volunteering for such key industry groups as the local chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association, and giving presentations.
"This industry is all about relationship-building," said Ramos. She's obviously good at it.
Since she started Technical Logistics in 1999, the firm has seen continued revenue growth: Revenues for the year ended Dec. 31, 2007, reached $3 million, an 847 percent rise from 2005 revenues of $320,000. The firm ranks No. 4 among the San Diego Business Journal's 2008 list of 100 Fastest-Growing Privately Held Companies in San Diego.
