A Drop Shipping website makes a good home-based business because you don't have to stock any product. Someone else does the stocking and shipping for you. However, there are a considerable number of drop ship services floating around out there.

Refer to the post titled Drop Ship Service versus Drop Ship Supplier for clarification on what the difference is and why you should choose a genuine drop ship supplier.

A major issue with a drop ship service is that it's difficult (if not impossible) to find a niche among their product offerings. This is because all of their subscribers will have access to the very same group of products that you do!

It's important to find a niche in a drop ship home business. Small home-based online sellers can find an advantage in small niches or micro-niche areas. These are the types of products that often ignored by large companies who prefer to go after more mainstream products.

So how do you find those? Research! The best way I know of to find niche products is by using the Worldwide Brands OneSource database. It's an online database designed for drop shop home businesses. Although it does offer other types of suppliers, their service will let you see specifically which products have suppliers who drop ship.

They are always adding more 'micro-niche' suppliers to their database as well so you don't have to just look once. They have an option to show only the last 30 added so you can check your keywords once per week or so and keep an eye on the new suppliers.

Choosing the right niche can help you build a profitable drop ship business. But in selling the same product as everyone else, your drop ship website may just sit there and produce nothing but hosting charges.
