The Harris family established Nicholas Jermyn Shirtmakers after five generations of textile trading. After supplying top designers, manufacturers, and retailers with fabrics sourced from around the world since around the mid-1800s, the move was a seamless transition.

Inspired by the famous

Jermyn Street tailors of London - Nicholas Jermyn is the ultimate haven for anyone who appreciates knowledgeable service and shirtmaking at its best.

With a commerce degree and strong desire to continue the family's textile experience, Nick Harris took the grounding gained in the family business and added a touch of corporate account management. He spent two years working in London, picking up particular inspiration from the stores of the Jermyn Street shirtmakers - the home of fine tailoring.

Meeting Nick in 2000, Shannon Harris discovered they shared a common interest in fashion and textiles. Together with her 14 years in sales and account management, the pair hatched their plan to start their own label.

Returning to New Zealand, they blended their skills, knowledge and eye for style to create the brand. Nick Harris explained the Jermyn Street experience really is something else, especially for those who appreciate fine tailoring. "Buying top quality shirts is more than a routine, there's emotion attached to it. We put a strong focus on getting the emotive elements right. The quality of our shirts is second to none, so we're mindful of matching that with our in-store experience."

The new Lambton Quay store combines rich textures and deep colours with classic touches like mahogany furniture and chandeliers reminiscent of the Georgian era - creating a refined space for people to enjoy.

And Shannon knows what it takes to deliver the kind of service that can be lacking within New Zealand retail. She is driven to ensure Nicholas Jermyn retail stores are the benchmark as a pleasurable place to visit. "We want the time people spend in our stores to leave a positive impression on them. Many of our customers are also very knowledgeable about shirts and appreciate quality - we work hard to make sure that expectation is lived up to."

Nicholas Jermyn views dressing for business and leisure as a passion. This is evident in everything it creates. All shirts are made fromm 100 per cent cotton fabrics from the highest quality mills in Europe and Asia. They offer a selection of styles with unique looks, and a recent addition are beautifully tailored pieces suitable for more upmarket events. Plus, to ensure exclusivity they only produce shirts in limited quantities and small runs.
