PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Chinese joint venture that teams-up CHINA NATIONAL OFFSHORE OIL CORP. (CNOOC) and the government of Hainan was recently established in view of building CNOOC's 5th liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal. Construction plans under consideration call for building a terminal with an initial installed handling capacity of 2 million tons per year (t/y). This project is scheduled for completion by the year 2009 and be increased to 3 million t/y 3 years later.
