Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget expands nonwovens presence in Russia.

Sweden's Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) reports it has acquired the Svetogorsk Tissue business, St Petersburg, Russia, from Tetra-Laval for Skr200 million (about US$25 million).

Svetogorsk is said to have Russia's most modern tissue machine, built in 1989, with an annual capacity of 20 000 tonnes - about 20% of Russian domestic demand. Current annual capacity at the plant is 30 000 tonnes which could be increased to 40 000 tonnes with limited investment, said SCA.
