ALKALINE: Astris Acquires H Power Factory.(Astris Energi Inc.; fuel cell industry)(Brief...

Astris Energi Inc. (2175-6 Dunwin Dr., Mississauga, Ontario L5L 1X2; Canada; Tel: 905/608-2000,) and partner, CareAction, Inc. (Montreal, Quebec) have acquired the multi-million-dollar fuel cell laboratory and production facility in Montreal, formerly owned by H Power Corp.

The nearly new 28,000-square-foot plant became available as a result of the recent acquisition of H Power by Plug Power, Inc. Most of its experienced technical and operations personnel have become available as well. The facility will be operated by the joint venture -- Astris Transportation Systems,
