Mufit Cinali has been named corporate vice president of strategic planning and business development for Hughes Electronics Corp.

Cinali also was elected an officer of Hughes Electronics and named a member of the company's Management Committee. He will report to Charles H. Noski, president and chief operating officer, and will join Hughes on June 1.
The former financial vice president of mergers and acquisitions for AT&T Corporation, Cinali, 41, directed all merger and acquisition initiatives globally and was responsible for the management and execution of corporate development, as well as managing relationships with investment bankers.
Prior to joining AT&T in 1995, Cinali managed mergers and acquisitions for GE Capital's commercial sector and served as vice president in GE Capital's Equity Group. Before his service with GE Capital, Cinali was a strategy consultant with Bain and Company of Boston, where he provided advice and expertise to help Bain clients pursue their strategy development, business restructuring and cost and productivity improvements.
Cinali graduated from Brown University in 1981 with a B.S. in engineering and a B.A. in economics. He received an MBA with distinction from Harvard University School of Business in 1987.
The earnings of Hughes Electronics are used to calculate the earnings per share attributable to GMH (NYSE symbol) common stock.
