Business/High-Tech Editors

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2000

The impact of the latest and greatest deal-making in the communication tower industry will be one of the hottest topics at Shorecliff Communication's Third Annual Tower Summit and Trade Show Oct. 29-31 in Las

Vegas.

SBC Communication's decision last month to lease approximately 3,900 of its existing towers, as well 800 yet-to-be-built towers, to SpectraSite Holdings was the latest in a series of major acquisitions in the wireless communications industry. Other leading telecommunications providers have sold their towers to companies such as Crown Castle and American Tower Corp., which specialize in managing those portfolios.

"This is an exciting crossroads for the wireless industry, as service providers and infrastructure companies redefine their core businesses and focus on them," said Andrea Downs, President of Shorecliff Communications. "We're eager to hear the leaders of the industry share their thoughts on how these acquisitions will change their business plans."

Among the keynote speakers at the Tower Summit will be:

-- Stephen Clark, Chairman and CEO of SpectraSite Communications,

-- Steven B. Dodge, Chairman and CEO of American Tower Corp.,

-- Ted B. Miller, Chairman and CEO of Crown Castle International Corp. and

-- Steven E. Bernstein, Chairman and CEO of SBA Communications.

In addition to examining the overall state of the industry, the Tower Summit will focus on many of the strategic challenges facing the industry, such as finding new categories of tenants to use the towers, new zoning regulations and community opposition to towers.

The Summit also will offer sessions for large and small tower owners, as well as collocation technologies and strategies for acquiring and managing wireless infrastructure.

The Summit will offer three tracks of presentations and discussions, organized around the following themes:

-- Track 1: Strategy and Development

-- Track 2: Operations, Execution and Service Fulfillment

-- Track 3: Site Development Opportunities for Wireless Data and

3G

The Tower Summit, which will be held Oct. 29-31 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, is the industry's largest annual gathering that features networking sessions and speakers from the following industry segments: tower owners, wireless carriers, third-party equipment vendors, manufacturers/ suppliers, investment community, industry organizations and information providers.

The Summit also will include the "2000 Excellence in Business Awards Ceremony and Dinner," which will recognize innovative leaders who have found unique solutions to common challenges within the tower industry. The event is sponsored by Shorecliff Communications and RCR Magazine.
