Chain Expansion Report

Arby's, CPK and other chains release expansion information.

Arby's signed development agreements with four new and 13 existing franchisees to open 35 restaurants throughout California, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West

Virginia.

Bruegger's signed a development agreement with Avi and Moshe Stern to build at least 20 bakery-cafés throughout southeastern Florida. Site selection is underway for the first location to open in early 2008.

Buffalo Wings & Rings, a privately owned franchised chain of 22 restaurants throughout Texas, the Midwest and eastern United States, signed its first international contract to open a restaurant in Kuwait. The South Korean Gen. Trad. Co. W.L.L. has also committed to opening up five additional restaurants within the next five years on U.S. Army bases in the Middle East.

California Pizza Kitchen opened a restaurant in Houston, its third location in that city. The chain also opened a restaurant in Seal Beach, Calif., at The Shops at Rossmoor.

The Cheesecake Factory opened a restaurant in Greenwood, Ind., and Mesa, Ariz. The chain also opened a location in Willow Grove, Pa., bringing the total number of restaurants companywide to 130.

Einstein Bros. Bagels opened a location each at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.; and the University of Missouri-Rolla in Rolla, Mo.; and at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio, bringing the total number of college campus locations to 68.

Jamba Juice announced it completed the acquisition of 22 Jamba Juice franchised stores in northern California and Nevada from Sanders Liquid Sunshine, LLC and Vegas Liquid Sunshine, LLC. The acquisition is part of Jamba Juice's ongoing growth strategy to expand the number of company-owned stores, which accounts for approximately 66 percent of the company's more than 640 stores. The chain has acquired a total of 34 franchised units this year.

Famous Ventures LP has purchased the right to franchise nine Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que restaurants in the West Texas, Forth Worth and San Antonio markets of Texas as well as Lawton, Okla.

Grill Concepts announced plans to open the company's sixth Grill on the Alley restaurant on The Promenade at Westlake, located in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Noble Roman's signed a development agreement to open 58 franchise locations throughout the Dallas County, Texas, territory during the next seven years.

RedBrick Pizza signed an agreement with RBP North Ltd. for the development of 40 units throughout Alberta, Canada. RBPW plans include several additional master developers with a goal of approximately 600 cafés across the country.

Ruby Tuesday announced plans to open six restaurants in Cairo, Egypt, during the next four years.

Ruth's Chris Steak House announced the completion of an acquisition of three formerly franchised restaurants in Bellevue, Wash.; Seattle; and Portland, Ore.

Taco Del Mar announced it signed an agreement with Brenda Bohinc, a New-England Subway entrepreneur, to develop an undisclosed number of Taco Del Mar restaurants throughout undisclosed areas of New England, with the first location opening in Groton, Conn.
