Delta Dental in Pennsylvania Reports Strong Commercial Gains in
New York, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and District of Columbia
Officials with the holding company for affiliated Delta Dental operations in Pennsylvania, California and 14 other states plus the District of Columbia announced today adding 1 million new enrollees over the last year.
Some of the strongest gains for Delta Dental of Pennsylvania and affiliated operations were in New York and the District of Columbia. Overall, the Pennsylvania Delta increased its gross revenues by 23 percent.
Gary Radine, president and chief executive officer of Dentegra Group, Inc. as well as of Delta Dental of Pennsylvania and Delta Dental Plan of California, said growth occurred throughout the holding company's 16-state territory, resulting in consolidated revenues of $3.125 billion in the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2000.
"Delta Pennsylvania and its affiliates are in a steady growth mode, which we expect should continue throughout the year," said Radine. "Our reputation for offering access to the largest dentist networks and providing hassle-free service to our client groups and enrollees is getting across well, particularly here within the mid-Atlantic brokerage and purchasing communities."
Including gains in the first quarter of 2001, Dentegra Group companies now cover an estimated 17.2 million enrollees, making it one of the largest dental benefit systems in the nation. Delta Pennsylvania and its affiliates in New York, D.C., Delaware, Maryland and West Virginia recently surpassed 2.8 million enrollees, while Delta California and its affiliates now cover more than 14.5 million enrollees.
In the mid-Atlantic region, specifically, Delta Dental of Pennsylvania, New York and the District of Columbia posted year 2000 enrollment gains of 11 percent, 10 percent and 51 percent, respectively. The New York Delta posted an additional 39 percent increase in the first quarter of 2001, boosting its statewide enrollment to nearly three quarters of a million enrollees. West Virginia operations added 9 percent, and Delaware added another 5 percent.
Dentegra Group company members belong to the national Delta Dental Plans Association, which collectively covers 35 million Americans and the nation's single largest dental benefits system.
