HERNDON, Va. & ST. LOUIS, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2002
SAVVIS Communications Corp. (NASDAQ: SVVS), a global managed IP and managed hosting services provider, today announced the enhancement of its "Fast Pack" Intelligent Hosting(SM) Solutions, expanding its recently launched single-server solutions to encompass multiple-server solution sets, while at the same time maintaining a 10-day provisioning schedule.
The expanded multi-server offering is geared toward enterprises that require more powerful managed hosting services, but still desire simplicity and bottom-line value. Customers can choose from a predetermined set of sophisticated server bundles without limiting the functionality required for robust Web and enterprise level services. This new multi-server release of Fast Pack augments SAVVIS' initial single-server solutions, which were geared towards companies seeking to migrate from shared server to dedicated server environments at prices that delivered an attractive return on investment. Single-server Fast Pack can be installed in as little as five days.
"Service providers have struggled to develop managed hosting solutions that combine affordability with performance," International Data Corporation (IDC) telecommunications research analyst Melanie Posey said. "There have been very robust solutions that were too expensive for most small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and, alternatively, ones that were affordable, but not powerful enough for business-class use," Posey continued. "The market is prepared to embrace affordable managed hosting services that leverage automated systems and deliver improved service levels, and reduced complexity at a lower price. SAVVIS appears to be capitalizing on that opportunity with its Fast Pack offerings."
"We looked at a variety of solutions for hosting data of vital importance to our overall program," said Wesley Smith, COO of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "We required a fully managed solution, bundled with critical core security services, and we needed it operational in days, not months. SAVVIS met this challenge."
Managed hosting, the provision of bundled services that enable companies to forego the purchase and maintenance of their own servers and network connections, currently represents one of the highest growth areas in telecommunications. Independent studies conducted by IDC project the hosting sector to grow to over $24 billion by 2005, from its current projection of $7 billion in 2002.
"Our vision of managed service delivery is quite different from that of other hosting providers," said Brad Hokamp, SAVVIS Executive Vice President of Product Management and Sales. "By leveraging the intelligence in our systems and our automated processes, we're able to deliver fully managed hosting services and world class support to the enterprise in a far faster delivery timeframe and at a lower price."
