Business Editors

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2002

ARAMARK (NYSE:RMK), a world leader in managed services, has acquired Travers Food Service, Ltd., a Canadian provider of food and lodging services to remote camps, for U.S. $18 million (25 million Canadian dollars) in

cash.

Travers, which was founded in 1978 and is headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, provides camp, catering and logistics services at remote sites for oil and gas exploration, forestry, military, railway and large construction projects throughout the west to many of Canada's largest companies.

Travers also provided food and lodging services to more than 2,000 security personnel at this year's G8 Summit, an annual meeting of leaders from eight countries that addresses global economic development and foreign policy, which was held in Alberta last month.

ARAMARK currently provides a range of remote site management services, including food, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, commissary, lounge, recreation, administrative services and turn-key camp operations in Canada and around the world, including remote sites and offshore locations in the United Kingdom, West Africa, the former Soviet Union and the Gulf of Mexico.

"Travers has significant experience in remote camp operations, with an experienced management team and solid relationships with some of Canada's leading companies," said Joseph Neubauer, Chairman and CEO of ARAMARK. "This acquisition will enable ARAMARK to expand the range of services we can provide to the growing remote camp sector and to leverage current remote site and offshore capabilities for new and existing clients in Canada and abroad."

In Canada, in addition to remote camp services, ARAMARK provides a complete range of managed services, such as food, dining, coffee and vending, office clerical, janitorial and laundry, plant operations and maintenance, conference center, environmental and patient care, to business and industry, education, healthcare and other clients.
