HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 2003

Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced the company has consolidated its efforts and intensified its focus on the industrial and process plant market with the creation

of the Bentley Plant vertical organization.

Bentley senior vice president and plant market veteran Dr. Jeff Hollings will lead the cross-functional team of 165 people. Bentley Plant will champion the company's PlantSpace(R) (DGN-based) and AutoPLANT(R) (DWG-based) 2D/3D product lines.

This announcement comes coincident with Daratech placing Bentley Plant #1 in platform software revenue and fastest growing in overall design software revenue within the plant market.

Hollings comments, "Our Bentley Plant mission is to help unify the plant community and lifecycle. With that goal, we are committed to proven, deployable, and cost-effective solutions for large ECO firms and owner operators." He concludes, "We believe the new Bentley Plant organization provides the intensity to deliver these values and leverage content throughout the plant lifecycle."

Hollings joined Bentley upon the company's 2002 acquisition of Rebis, where he was a founder and served as CEO and chief technology officer. Dr. Malcolm Davies, also formerly of Rebis and a 20-year veteran of the plant market, has been appointed Director of Industry Marketing for the new organization.

Bentley Plant will be headquartered in Walnut Creek, California and includes operations Houston, Texas; Calgary, Alberta; and Louisiana.

Bentley Plant service offerings will be expanded with the creation of a Center of Excellence, located in Houston, Texas, USA. The Center is designed to be the leading research, technology and integration center in the plant market.

The Center offers a test bed for certification and benchmarking, client meeting space and a state-of-the-art technical presentation center for workshops and training. Furthermore, the Center will be used to highlight the latest Bentley Plant interoperable design solutions from functional and physical design through to life cycle management.

In related news, Bentley recently acquired WorkPlace Wisdom, a Calgary-based systems integrator with 13 years of experience in deploying large-scale engineering solutions. All of the employees from WorkPlace Wisdom will join the Bentley Plant team. The move makes Bentley Plant the largest plant and process software provider for the fast-growing industrial market of Calgary.

Separately at this conference, Bentley outlined its 2002 results, which included revenues rising by 14% to $230 million, sustained and increased profitability, expansion of its subscription licensing program, and future-growth investments including verticalization and several strategic acquisitions.
