AIr France-KLM gives details on Alitalia offer.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

On 17 December Air France-KLM gave details of its offer to buy Alitalia SpA.

The offer includes a cash injection as well as a promise of no new lay-offs. The information confirms comments made by the company's chairman

to Italian newspapers on 16 December. According to Reuters, Alitalia loses more than EUR1m a day and has debts of EUR1.2bn.

Additionally, Air France-KLM said that it has made a non-binding offer to acquire all Alitalia shares through an exchange offer. The company would also acquire all of Alitalia's convertible bonds.

There is no information on the share-exchange ratio, the presumed value of Alitalia or a time for the planned offer.
