Hyperdynamics Selects James R. Spear as SCS's VP and Chief Geophysicist.

Company continues to accelerate exploration efforts

HOUSTON -- Hyperdynamics Corporation (AMEX:HDY) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary has engaged Mr. James R. Spear as a new Vice President and Chief Geophysicist. In a press announcement on October 17th a board level decision

was revealed with a strategy to bring its core exploration talent in-house and to build world renowned oil and gas exploration experience from the board of directors on down.

When asked to comment, Mr. Spear stated, "Hyperdynamics' exploration efforts offshore Guinea present a unique opportunity to apply my geological and geophysical expertise. The Republic of Guinea offshore represents one of the few unexplored shelf areas remaining in the world today. Over my career I have been part of many successful exploration efforts with both majors and independents alike. These efforts resulted in major discoveries."

About James R. Spear

Mr. Spear is a geoscientist with more than thirty years of geological and geophysical work experience, both domestic and internationally in the exploration for hydrocarbons.

Being adept at prospecting, he has led teams or been a key team member responsible for drilling 512 successful wells over his working career as both exploration and development wells. He has both shelf and deepwater Gulf of Mexico experience and Deep Shelf experience GOM. International experience includes Latin America (Mexico, Central America, Northern South America, Gulf of Paria, offshore Trinidad, Columbus Basin offshore Trinidad, Sub-Andean basins, offshore Brazil, and offshore Argentina (Malvinas Basin and Falkland Islands), Russian Federation, Southeast Asia, Africa and North Africa (Sirte Basin, Libya, Western Desert of Egypt and Muglad Basin, Sudan), Dubai, UAE, West Africa (Ivory Coast, Nigeria -Mobil Nigeria/Shell Nigeria) and Europe (Spain, UK onshore and offshore North Sea).

Mr. Spear is Experienced in some 42 global basins, inclusive of Malaysia, Philippine Islands, Bohai Gulf, Pearl River Basin, Palawan Islands, Northwest Shelf of Australia, Sumatra (Mobil Oil- Indonesia), onshore basins of Australia, New Zealand, and South China Sea offshore of Republic of Vietnam predominately in the Gulf Coast region of Texas, Louisiana, and the Gulf of Mexico. Recent international experience includes Trinidad, Mexico and offshore Nigeria. James is an expert on Landmark workstations and proficient on Geoquest IESX and Charisma workstations/SMT.

Mr. Spear is a Vietnam War veteran.
