NIIT acquires Element K

Element K, provider of learning solutions In North America, has been bought by NIIT, the Indianbased company which develops and delivers learning services and products around the globe.

NIIT claims that the combination of the two companies will create the world's largest organisation dedicated

to providing comprehensive learning solutions, with more than 3,000 employees, over $250 million in revenue, and a presence in 32 countries.

Element K remains an Independent operating company with the Element K name. Stephen Huffman is continuing as CEO.

Vijay Thadani, CEO of NIIT, said: "This acquisition is consistent with our stated plans for accelerated growth in developed economies. Element K has an established base of highly satisfied clients In the US and Canada, and a well respected brand In the training Industry. They are moving successfully into the North American Learning Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) marketplace, and will benefit from NIIT's global presence and complementary learning services."

NIIT's learning services combine instructor-led and online delivery, custom content development, learning technologies and managed services.

Huffman said: "We look forward to leveraging NIIT's global reach and range of SEI-Level 5 assessed learning services. We believe NIIT will benefit from our extensive catalog of e-leaming and instructor-led courses, hosted learning platform and excellent reputation in the US corporate training market."
