Technology Recruiting Site Again Earns CareerXroads
"Best of the Best" Spot
The daVinci Project of Upstate New York's website, www.daVinciTimes.org, placed in the Top 50 "Best of the Best" websites for job hunting and
Editors Gerry Crispin and Mark Mehler evaluated over 3,000 websites to come up with the directory's 500 picks. Of those, they selected the 50 most unique and effective sites for "Best of the Best" status.
"The daVinciTimes site is great from a job seeker's perspective," says Mehler. "It's easy to navigate and delivers information effectively."
The editors were impressed with the niche The Project has carved in the recruiting marketplace. "These companies banded together to promote themselves and the positives of an area facing a very difficult recruiting situation," says Mehler. "We really like niche sites-- they are the future of the Internet."
Highlighted in the directory listing are the site's search engine, resume wizard and technical forum. The editors also liked its look, the creative toys, tools and resources it has developed to engage visiting engineers."
The daVinci Project began in 1997 in response to the critical shortage of engineers and technical professionals nationwide. Today, more than 40 Upstate New York companies have joined forces to attract employees. The collaborative website emphasizes the under-publicized but significant lifestyle benefits and career opportunities of this region.
The technology renaissance here is creating a wealth of technical jobs--an estimated 2,000-3,000 openings over the next three years in daVinci companies alone. The consortium allows these companies to pool resources, offering a diversity of positions in technical specialties including electrical, mechanical, computer, civil, chemical, environmental, RF/microwave and consulting engineering, as well as software and IT.
"We're thrilled to have earned a spot on such a prestigious list," says Susan Pale', The daVinci Project's Executive Director--Operations. "CareerXroads is a premier resource for job seekers."
Pale' adds that the consortium has undergone a significant geographic expansion this year. "What this says is there's a real need for good technical professionals everywhere in New York state," she says.
The Project's member companies comprise a broad spectrum of high technology and range from small start-ups to multinational industry leaders, such as Carrier, Lockheed Martin and Philips.
