U.S. Home Corporation Communities Cited as Best in Seniors' Housing
At National Association of Home Builders' Conference
A U.S. Home Corporation active adult community was recognized this week in Dallas
Presented with the Merit Achievement award for both the Large Active Adult Retirement Community category and the Interior Design - Active Adult category, Heritage Highlands is now one of Southern Arizona's most acclaimed communities. Heritage Highlands is located in the foothills of the Tortolita Mountains at an average elevation of 2,900 feet.
"It is always gratifying to have our communities recognized by such a prestigious organization as the NCOSH," says Robert Strudler, chairman and co-CEO of U.S. Home Corporation. "Heritage Highlands, one of thirty open active adult and intergenerational communities developed by the company, is a great example of the caliber of communities U.S. Home offers across the country. These awards signify how U.S. Home Corporation is meeting the needs of the growing senior population."
The annual Best of Seniors' Housing Awards recognize trend-setting projects that enhance senior living. NCOSH elects a panel of judges comprised of design professionals, architects, NAHB members and active seniors to decide which communities best meet the award criteria.
NCOSH has awarded five U.S. Home communities as among the best over the past several years. U.S. Home Corporation has new active adult communities in more states than any other national homebuilder and is the nation's largest developer of residential golf course communities.
In addition to the NCOSH awards, Heritage Highlands was recently recognized as the No. 1 golf course community in the state by Ranking Arizona 2000 - The Best of Arizona Business and was rated as a "Top 20 Retirement Community" by Reader's Digest's New Choices magazine in 1998.
Heritage in the Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich., a joint venture with The Silverman Companies of Farmington Hill, Mich., was also honored with a Merit Achievement Award for the Active Adult Clubhouse category. The U.S. Home designed 7,000-square-foot state-of-the-art clubhouse is the focal point of the community.
Heritage in the Hills is part of U.S. Home's "Builders' Joint Venture Program for Active Adult Communities" in which it seeks to partner with local builders, enabling an expansion of its active adult community activities outside its traditional areas of operation. The community is the first of a series of joint ventures planned by U.S. Home Corporation and is the first of its kind in Michigan. The builder's second joint venture, Heritage Pines in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., is under active development. Additionally, the Company has plans for communities in Atlanta and St. Louis.
U.S. Home Corporation is the only three-time recipient of Professional Builder's "Builder of the Year" Award. The homebuilder recently received the "National Housing Quality Award" silver medal, jointly sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center and Professional Builder magazine.
