Axerra Networks has established its EMEA headquarters in London and named Peter Slade as Senior Director, EMEA Sales, to lead the company's growth throughout the region. Future EMEA build-out plans also call for additional sales offices across the region to support partnerships with major Pan-European distributors and alliances with high-profile, forward-looking service providers.
"The opening of this office provides us with a means to access carriers and service providers throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa," said Kirk Wrigley, President of Axerra Networks. "From day one, we have intended that Axerra be a truly international company. Establishing this office is the logical next-step in making good on those intentions."
The new office will bring Axerra's AXN Multiservice IP Concentrator product family to a quickly growing carrier and service provider industry in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including both next-generation and established service providers. In addition, the company's new headquarters will enable it to better serve its distributor partners as they support the growing demand for Multiservice Over IP solutions.
"We are seeing tremendous interest among EMEA service providers for the Multiservice Over IP solutions we have pioneered," said Terence Winsky, Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "The new London headquarters, together with our distribution partners, enables us to fully develop this opportunity and this market."
As Senior Director, EMEA Sales, Peter Slade joins Axerra Networks to lead all sales and business development functions in the EMEA region. In this role, Slade will build a network of distributors and channel partners, and together with these partners support strategic relationships with industry-leading service providers building IP and IP/MPLS networks.
Slade comes to Axerra Networks from Advanced Switching Communications Inc., with significant experience in carriers' requirements for multiservice capabilities. Prior to joining ASC, Slade was Vice President of Sales, EMEA for Ericsson's NGI Router Group, where he was responsible for the early positioning of the Next Generation Internet.
From the early days of TDM multiplexers to, more recently, Ethernet Switching and ATM/Frame Relay multiservice, Slade has been at the forefront in bringing new technologies to a worldwide market.
"I am very excited about this opportunity to bring Multiservice Over IP to the EMEA market," said Peter Slade. "Axerra Networks is unique in its vision for both legacy and emerging services over IP networks, and its support of the international standards and interfaces from day one."
Axerra Networks will be showcasing its AXN Multiservice IP Concentrator at SuperComm 2001 in Atlanta, Ga., June 5-7 at Booth 9082. The AXN is fully compatible with international standards, including E1, E3, STM-1, STM-4, and ETSI 300 386-2.
