I Need Your Help - A Call to Action

Friday, May 9 2008

I’ve been writing these blogs for several months now, and it’s challenged me to pull from my depth of knowledge and ask, “What have I really learned?” There is so much more I have to share! But in the meantime, I’d like to take this opportunity to hear back from you. A blog, at its best, addresses the desires of the public who elect to read it – it informs, helps, directs, eases, encourages, and enlightens. Am I doing all of these things for you? Even a couple?

Let me know. This blog has, in part, been so rewarding because I have the freedom to take it in so many different directions. But rather than write about what I think is fascinating or helpful, I want to know what YOU want to read. What fears do you still have? Confusions? Complications? Is there a subject I haven’t covered as thoroughly, or at all? Are you interested in reading more about my own life story (really now… who wouldn’t! Joke)? I’m here to aid you, not toot my own horn.

Please, I welcome all comments, suggestions, and criticisms.

Hey Steven, I've been reading your blog since you started it in November (I remember because I'd just gotten back from New Zealand). I've also listened to most of your teleconferences. I've really enjoyed all of your insight over the past few months. The things that I've personally enjoyed the most are your stories. Learning about non-provisional patents was an important thing for me and helped a lot, but I really enjoy hearing about your past experiences. EX: how you came up with the idea to put a skull face on a guitar pick. Your past successes and failures are what interest me because they shaped you into the inventor you are today. The wisdom you've accumulated is great and always useful, but I like the stories the most. Also, I LOVED it when you did a video demo of how you created a prototype for spinformation. It's much more tangible when you can actually watch the creation process rather than just reading about it. Anyways, keep up the great work and I hope my comment helps.

2. P.S.

An afterthought: I can't remember if you told the guitar pick story in your blog or on the Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. That was another great story: how you got on that show.

Thanks for the great feedback. Based on your feedback, maybe I should be doing more videos and providing more information about prototyping.

More videos and prototyping in the future? You got it! Thanks again for the feedback.

You know, I'm not sure either. I know I talked about my guitar picks on Donny Deutsch. But I've written so many blog posts and done so many tele-seminars, I'm not always sure what I have and haven't covered. I'll take a close look at all my past blog posts and see if I've written an article specifically on how I got started with my hot picks business. I know I've written posts about some of my experiences, but a post on how I got started is a great idea.

Thanks again for the feedback.

It wasn't so much the fact that I didn't know how to prototype; I just thought the process of creating Spinformation labels was interesting to watch. And I do think an occasional video would be nice. Obviously, you don't want to make videos just for the sake of doing it, but if it can enhance your articles, then absolutely go for it. Like I said, having that visual element makes whatever you're saying much more comprehensive. The few YouTube videos that you've linked into your blog have, for me, been very memorable.

Stephen, I have also been reading your blog ever since you started it, and I've also listened to each recorded episode. There is plenty of process information available from many sources, and we always need all of that that you feel like supplying, but I particularly like hearing straight from people who have been successful all the details of how they did it (including more from you too, please). Thanks for all your hard work on this!

Yes, videos are more effort than making a standard blog post. It's nice to hear that you found the few videos I've done to be useful and memorable.
