Sees Growth Opportunities For Local Area; Center To Provide Employment

for 800 Local BP Amoco Employees

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world's largest professional services organization, today announced it has made a major commitment

to Tulsa with the opening of a Centre of Excellence(sm) unit that will provide business process outsourcing (BPO) services to BP Amoco and other multinational clients in the U.S. Through BPO, a company outsources key business support functions such as finance and accounting and IT applications to a qualified services provider such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, which is a leader in this field.

The new facility will provide employment for approximately 800 employees of BP Amoco's Accounting and Application Systems Shared Services Group in Tulsa, who will join PricewaterhouseCoopers as full employees and form the nucleus of the new service unit. As the first facility of its kind in the region, the opening also marks the launch of a new professional services industry, business process outsourcing, in the Tulsa area - a global industry valued at $80 billion and estimated to more than double to $200 billion over the next five years.

Raymond Bayley, U.S. BPO leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said, "The skills and experience of the Shared Services Group is exactly the kind of talent that drives our business. As professional services providers supported by state-of-the-art technology and training, they will be able to apply their expertise not only to the oil and gas industry but to other industries as well. We see considerable growth potential for meeting the growing BPO needs of BP Amoco and other multinationals with operations in the U.S."

Since 1996, PricewaterhouseCoopers has helped BP Amoco achieve significant operating efficiencies and cost reductions in key support services areas in Europe and South America. Under the terms of an agreement announced on November 10, 1999, PricewaterhouseCoopers affiliate PricewaterhouseCoopers BPO Midwest LLC will manage BP Amoco's finance and accounting and IT applications operations in Tulsa, Chicago and Houston, which support BP Amoco's upstream and chemical operations in the U.S. Approximately 300 BP Amoco employees in Chicago and 100 employees in Houston will also become employees of the PricewaterhouseCoopers service units in those locations. The new service units will be part of the firm's global Centres of Excellence network that provides BPO services to major PricewaterhouseCoopers clients around the world.

Tom Eubanks, the partner in charge of PricewaterhouseCoopers BPO Midwest LLC, said, "We are excited about creating a new Centre of Excellence in Tulsa that will leverage the skills and expertise that BP Amoco's 800 employees bring to the firm. It's a win-win situation for all involved. We gain a core of highly skilled client service providers; BP Amoco continues to benefit from their services while achieving its performance objectives; and the new employees are given an opportunity to take their career in a new and exciting direction the multibillion-dollar market for BPO services."
